The Electronic and Controls Engineering Intern will work alongside Electronics and Controls Engineers to develop control systems for internal Roush projects and external customers. The Electronic and Controls Engineering Intern will develop simple control system software, write software and electrical documentation, and assist with integration, commissioning and deployment of electromechanical control systems. This is an onsite 40-hour-per-week paid internship position located in Livonia, MI.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop simple control system software, including software architecture and control algorithmsWrite software documentation such as flowcharts, state diagrams, timing diagrams, pseudocode, theory of operations, and Unified Modeling Language (UML)Write electrical design documentation such as schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness drawingsCoordinate with other Roush fabricators and technicians to have custom electrical and mechanical assemblies builtAssist with gathering engineering data, including vehicle instrumentation, bench testing, and logging data for post processing and analysisAssist with control system integration, commissioning, and validation tasks such as wiring installation, testing, tuning, and troubleshootingWrite reports on testing and logged data for senior engineersMinimum QualificationsMust be able to work a 40-hour work week from May 2025 - August 2025Must be actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering: Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Must have a minimum of Sophomore standingValid driver's license and safe driving historyAbility to read, understand and create electrical schematics, and a good understanding of electrical and electronics basicsMust be proficient in MS OfficeExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to write concise technical reportsAbility to work independently and handle several assignments simultaneouslyGood time management skills to ensure projects are completed by deadlineAbility to absorb new technical assignments independentlyPreferred QualificationsAutomotive knowledgeAbility to operate an oscilloscope and other electronic test equipmentExperience from FSAE, SAE Baja, First Robotics, or other similar academic programs preferred Our part-time benefits include: Earned sick time and 401K.
