In this position...

Planetary Assemblies & Gear Component Engineer will be responsible for planetary assemblies and gear components. The position entails managing planetary and gear designs for current production transmissions and developing new designs for future model applications including hybrid and BEV programs. The engineer will be responsible for functional objectives, quality, cost, weight, and program timing.

What you'll do...

  • Lead planetary and layshaft gear design for ICE and BEV powertrain applications.

  • Collaborate with systems engineering team, Ford manufacturing plants and component suppliers to meet program objectives for quality, cost, weight, durability and NVH.

  • Perform critical development testing to validate CAE life models.

  • Develop optimum gear efficiency manufacturing parameters and validate power loss.

  • High Integrity gear subject matter expertise with a passion for gear design yet still humble with diverse perspective.

  • Lead component and assembly release in Ford engineering release system.

  • Develop and maintain FMA documents.

  • Lead ‘Team of 4’ cross functional PD and Purchasing.

  • Lead ADVP and DVP with supplier.

  • Analyze warranty/test hardware to identify root cause of failure and define corrective actions using 8D tools/methods.

  • Benchmark, identify and implement current model quality and cost reduction actions.

You'll have...

BS in mechanical engineering or similar discipline.

3+ years engineering experience as powertrain mechanical component engineer.

Even better, you may have...

Strong engineering and prior Design & Release background preferred.

Strong Interests in battery electric and electro-mechanical component and system design.

Ability to review and assess 2D/3D CAD data, stacks and VSA studies.

Support Ariba/e3P process.

WERS experience preferred.

Familiarity with Teamcenter preferred.

Prior launch experience preferred.

Strong communication & organizational skills.

Highly motivated, passionate leader.

Strong problem-solving skills.

This position is a range of salary grades SG5-SG8 .
