Utilities Service, LLC Regional Safety Trainer - ATE in Livonia, Michigan

Regional Safety Trainer

Responsible for implementing, maintaining, and conducting safety and technical training programs to regional personnel. Assists the Regional Safety Supervisor with job site safety audits and communicates and enforces regional and corporate policies and procedures. The incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Region Manager and may have additional responsibilities as directed. This position requires a high emphasis on the company's training process, the Line Clearance Qualification Standard (LCQS). This will entail checking crew certifications and making sure that the individuals performing the jobs have the correct certifications and that the LCQS training is being conducted properly at all levels.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Perform and teach new and advanced climbing methods.

  • Perform and teach tree felling according to the company training process.

  • Demonstrate and teach tree rigging and roping procedures.

  • Administer Driver Management Program and be trained in corporate DMP program.

  • Perform and teach DOT Pre-Trip Inspection.

  • Administer Company-approved training program.

  • Perform and teach First Aid and CPR.

  • Attendance Requirements: 40 -50 hour work week, including weekends if requested.

  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Attend periodic company-approved training programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Able to:

  • Climb trees & run a chain saw

  • Carry out minor repairs on DOT Equipment.

  • Communicate safety rules, processes, procedures, and operational functions with clarity and in a manner that employees understand.

  • Must be able to write, read, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information in English (Spanish-bilingual preferred).

  • Possess knowledge of vegetation industry specialized equipment.

  • Must be able to operate and service all company-provided tools and equipment.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Pre-Screen

  • Upon hire, employees may be required to complete and pass both a pre-employment drug screen and background and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications:

  • Valid DOT Medical Card Required.

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.

  • Valid Driver's License Required.

TRAVEL

  • Must be willing to travel out of state for regular work as requested and emergency storm work.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): Stooping, Squatting, Climbing on/off a truck and ladders, Reading, Pushing.

  • FREQUENT (up to 66%): Walking, Body Twisting, Manual Dexterity, Speaking clearly and projecting to a distance, Carrying, Pulling, Balancing, Lift up to 10 pounds.

  • CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): Standing, Climbing, Gripping, Reaching, Seeing at a distance and good depth perception, Full body range of motion, Lift up to 50 pounds.

Safety

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous time a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate & handle confrontations professionally.
