Description:

Under general supervision, performs a variety of general secretarial, transcription, and administrative/office support functions for the Logan Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Qualifications:

Must be a graduate of a standard senior high school or equivalent. Must have experience equivalent to two (2) years of secretarial/clerical support work or completion of a post high school training program in secretarial sciences, including the use of word processors.

Work 20 to 30 hours per week. Flexible on initial set up of hours, but must be between 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. Once set, hours will be posted for public.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for answering phone calls, respond to operators on the two-way radio, help incoming visitors as needed, monitor plant access gate. Process service orders, purchase order agreements, receipts, and invoices. Schedule plant tours through online and phone requests. Help track plant spare parts inventory and place new orders as required. Help track preventative maintenance tasks for plant grounds and equipment. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Characteristics:

Knowledge of office management practices and procedures. Knowledge of departmental operations and functions. Knowledge of general bookkeeping/billing practices and procedures. Knowledge of computer software used to complete assigned projects (i.e. Quicken; Page Maker; Microsoft Suites, including Excel, Word, and Power Point). Knowledge of mapping programs helpful.

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with corporate/government organization staff, other City staff, and the public. Skill in following complex oral and written instructions, policies, and procedures. Skill in operating a variety of office equipment, including word processor, computer terminal, typewriter, adding machine, and telephone. Ability to maintain and handle confidential information. Ability to work under pressure and be multi-task oriented.
