A Raymond Tinnerman Quality Auditor in Logansport, Indiana

About the job Responsible for performing and evaluating inspection results of various types of metal parts and assemblies, coated parts and coating materials, using an assortment of inspection equipment. Make decisions concerning the acceptability of the product to standards for receiving, in process, final, and layout inspection.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Works with engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with quality engineers and/or management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for a variety of qualities such as dimensional, performance and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics. Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
  • Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards. (Use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Minitab, etc.)
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Sets up and performs destructive and non-destructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
  • Prepares statistical graphs or charts of data for analysis and presentation.
  • Works with quality engineering and/or quality management on inspection and work instructions. (New and revised)
  • Provides input in the development, validation, documentation and refining of QA test and inspection procedures and assists in the selection of equipment/tooling as required.
  • Interacts with internal and external customers on inspection method and results.
  • Perform product and process audits to applicable standards.
  • Assist in corrective action development and implementation.

Education and experience

- - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to provide technical assistance to internal and external customers as needed.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk. Ability to life over 50 lbs. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
