Job Description:

L3Harris IVS, a world leading designer and manufacturer of laser, night vision and electro-optic devices, is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager to pursue a career in a fast paced company where new designs become production reality. As a member of our new product development staff, you will provide line management for the electrical engineering and layout teams in addition to individual contributor responsibilities. A variety of Electrical Engineering skills, specifically in implementing low power, hand-held, battery operated equipment will be required to bring projects from concept to production.

Essential Functions:

  • Managing electrical design engineers and layout (PWB design) activities

  • Task estimation, budgeting, and resource management

  • Setting expectations for direct reports and providing feedback on performance reviews

  • Mentoring early career electrical engineers

  • Participate in peer design reviews and program design reviews

  • Lead and support electrical design teams in the development of new products.

  • Conduct component and system level design trades and analyses

  • Developing analog / digital circuit boards including power conversion, front end sensor circuits, ADC / DAC, microcontroller and FPGAs

  • Schematic entry using OrCAD and/or Mentor tools

  • Design simulation using PSpice or equivalent

  • Post-design support and troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, logic/spectrum analyzers and other test equipment

  • EMI/EMC design and testing

  • Transition production of new designs and technologies

  • Support sustaining electrical engineering for qualified production designs

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of design architecture tradeoffs for size, weight, power and cost (SWaPC)

  • Proficiency with OrCad or Mentor, Pspice, Cadence Allegro or equivalent CAD/CAE tools required

  • A demonstrable background in designing high reliability analog and digital electronics with strong emphasis on precision instrumentation amplifier frontends and mixed signal interfaces

  • Experience in designing high efficiency power conversion circuits for low power, battery operated systems

  • Familiarity with good EMI/EMC design practices

  • High level understanding of task/project scoping and execution to schedules

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
