In 1 st Line of Defense (1LOD), the Transaction Risk Interdiction & Detection (TRIAD) team owns an integrated risk management strategy that supports the delivery of predictable financial and operational performance to produce successful client and shareholder outcomes. Our charter is to protect our client’s and the firm’s assets by preventing and mitigating fraud losses by utilizing various tools and vendor solutions such as Enterprise Risk Engine (Actimize), ThreatMetrix, OASIS, Visa Fraud Modeling, and other vendor Models. TRIAD is responsible for creating strategies to interdict fraud perpetrated by criminals in our MoveMoney products and accounts – Wires, ACH, New Accounts, Visa transactions, Bank Bill Pay, Journals and other Schwab products used to move money to and from Schwab. The team is responsible for reviewing historical transactions of known fraud; reviewing existing in house and vendor models used to score fraud; and to keep abreast of new, emerging threats. The team also works closely with our model product owners, Schwab Model Review Oversight organization, Internal Audit teams, and our business stakeholders and in Banking and Brokerage operations to provide updates and metrics on ongoing fraud effectiveness in all the previously mentioned Move Money products.
What you’ll do:
The Fraud and Risk Decision Engine Sr Manager will be responsible for platform strategy and execution in the Actimize Integrated Fraud Management (IFM) platform for the 1LOD; they will be the business Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Enterprise Risk Engine (ERE).
They will primarily be responsible for working closely with our stakeholders to size and implementing real time interdiction strategies across multiple channels (e.g. online, paper, mobile app, etc.)/transaction types (e.g. wire, ACH, journal, etc.), owning functional/regression testing for new integrations/updates to existing infrastructure – this will require frequent outside of normal business hours support , ensuring business requirements are accurately captured and implemented for several ongoing cloud migrations, developing custom profiles to enrich data to increase model performance (e.g. lower FPRs, increase FCRs, etc.), working with various internal and audit teams, etc.
The ideal candidate will have platform specific experience across multiple IFM modules including Act One Policy Manager, Act One Designer, DART Research, Dashboards, and the Analytics Authoring Environment (AAE); other platform experience will be considered.
Essential Duties:
Fully share in the responsibility to optimize the Client/Brand experience while helping to manage risk, minimize fraud and meet key performance metrics
Be a thoughtful, individual key contributor to risk and fraud strategy discussions
Take a dynamic approach to meeting with your Risk, Technology, Operations and Vendor partners
Leverage experience writing fraud prevention rules in transaction decision engines using predictive model scores and other analytical elements
Work hands-on in:
Actimize IFM Policy Manager to author fraud prevention rules, build and queue compound strategies and define decisions (E.g., Authenticate, allow, decline, hold, SMS, refer).
Actimize IFM, Analytics Authoring Environment (AAE) to develop and maintain various objects, E.g.;
Basic programming logic
Mathematical functions and operators
Predictive model scores
Profiles
Actimize IFM predictive model management
Actimize IFM Administration to maintain features such as:
Lists
Filters
Alerts
Reports
Audit trails
Actimize IFM Risk Case Designer to develop intuitive functionality and process flow
Ability to scale-up transaction decision engines with new money movement services and lines of business
Embrace and own your role as Charles Schwab’s Actimize IFM, hands-on expert
What you have

Required Qualifications :
5+ years of SQL programming experience in one or more applications (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, Big Query, Postgres, etc.)
Good understanding of basic Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA)
Good understanding of:
Various Software Development Lifecycle methodologies
QA/UAT functional test development and execution
Gathering business requirements, sizing them, and aligning them with strategic objectives
Project management fundamentals
Financial transactions and their attributes:
Monetary
Non-monetary
Preferred Qualifications :
A passion in protecting Charles Schwab client and company assets
5+ years of Risk Management and Fraud Prevention experience
5+ years of hands-on experience writing fraud prevention rules in financial transaction decision engines such as FICO Blaze Advisor, FICO Falcon, FICO Triad, Actimize IFM, SAS Fraud Management
Rules/Policy Managers
Analytics Environments
Case Managers
Administrative Managers
Particularly within decision engine applications
Knowledge of financial transaction, risk scoring / anomaly detection models
High level of comfort moving and transforming data
Ability to navigate instances such as development and production
Experience testing/back-testing features and strategies
Some knowledge of:
Enterprise-level Big Data environments
Python, R, SAS
EDUCATION
Preferred: B.S./B.A. or MS/MBA in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, InfoTech or related field
10+ years of direct experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree
