Robert Half Accounts Payable Specialist in Long Beach, California

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist in the non-profit industry. The position is based in Long Beach, California, United States. As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be responsible for managing vendor tracking and payment systems, processing invoices, and resolving accounts payable issues.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately process customer credit applications and maintain credit records

• Perform data entry tasks for all invoices and assist with account coding

• Utilize ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and other accounting software systems for record-keeping and audit purposes

• Handle accounts payable inquiries professionally and follow up promptly

• Manage the disbursement of checks accurately and process online portal payments

• Maintain and update accounts payable sub-ledger to General Ledger and the accounts payable aged invoice report

• Serve as a financial assistant, managing customer service tasks for internal business partners

• Regularly open, sort, and deliver department mail

• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other authorities

• Maintain approved vendor information including form W-9s, 1099 reporting status, payment terms, email address, portal access, phone number.

• Provide general accounting support for agency operations and new initiatives

• Execute daily processes and controls accurately, ensuring compliance with organizational policies

• Maintain accounting records supported by source documentation Requirements • Proficiency in account coding and accrual accounting

• Experience with accounting software systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

• Knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP) processes and functions

• Familiarity with Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions

• Ability to conduct auditing tasks with attention to detail

• Experience with Concur expense management system

• Knowledge of ADP financial services

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred

• Prior experience in a non-profit organization would be an asset.
