The Dean of Instruction supervises division staff and faculty and administers in instructional programs in the following areas: Math (MATH), Natural Science (ASTR, BIOL, CHEM, ENVS, ENGR, ERSI, GEOL, HLTH, OCEA, NUTR, PHYS, PHED), and Accounting, Business, and IT (ACCT, BTEC, BUS, IT, CS).   We are looking for a passionate and thoughtful leader that is committed to student success and has an appreciation of shared governance to join our team! The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  This position may be hybrid - the Dean can split time between being on campus and has some flexibility to work remotely. This position is exempt under FLSA and reports to the Vice President of Instruction. Examples of Duties & Responsibilities

Personnel:

  • Supervise and evaluate personnel, including faculty, staff, and student workers in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Assist in the recruiting, hiring, and orienting of staff and faculty in areas of responsibility.
  • Chair tenure track faculty committees.
  • Maintain compliance with faculty and classified employee union contracts.

Curriculum and Instruction:

  • In conjunction with department chairs and faculty, oversee course scheduling and planning for assigned instructional areas; finalize faculty workloads.
  • Monitor and respond to course enrollment and enrollment trends.
  • Collaborate with faculty to plan, develop, support, and implement curriculum and instructional activities, including assessment.
  • Provide curricular oversight of the assigned areas of responsibility.

Budget and resources:

Manage financial resources by providing oversight of budget expenditures in assigned areas.

Oversee grants associated with areas of responsibility, ensuring appropriate expenditures, compliance and documentation.
