The opportunity:

  • Provide the maintenance coordination activities required for maintaining and ensuring reliability, at the lowest cost, for the area of responsibility.

  • Provide support to the Area Manager and Process Manager (Foreman) to ensure operational and maintenance activities are scheduled, coordinated, and executed to drive process and equipment reliability.

  • Manage in a goal-oriented environment to deliver target results in the areas of safety, reliability, cost, quality, productivity, and employee engagement.

  • Drive improvement in the operational performance and quality systems

  • Support the area manager to accomplish the department goals

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Engage hourly personnel involvement in the mill\u2019s safety program.

  • Set priorities for maintenance to ensure safety related request and issues are resolved in a timely manner.

  • Environmental

  • Foster an environment where employees work safely and follow the environmental guidelines.

  • Support the environmental initiatives established by the paper machine superintendent in the pursuit of 100% environmental compliance.

  • People/HR

  • Commit to an appropriate and effective set of core values and belief, during all times, that above all respects the efforts of the management team, supports the vision of management roles and thus enhances the collective goals of the entire paper department.

  • Assist as needed in the evaluations of process managers (foreman) on yearly basis to ensure performance individual performances are contributing positively to the department and mill goals related to reliability.

  • Assist in the development and executing of the engagement plan for the salary and hourly workforce.

  • EPAM

  • Involved in every aspect of the EPAM process and meeting metrics.

  • The principal manager of EPAM process in the operating department.

  • The primary contact with the maintenance department.

  • Assures all work is identified. Sets work identification expectations of operating crews and actively follows up to maintain engagement.

  • Principle person responsible for initial screening of work requests

  • The principal person responsible for verifying and prioritizing identified work. Assures accuracy of information on the request.

  • Shares in developing plans (mostly operational).

  • Shares in developing planned work backlog for operational duties.

  • Jointly responsible for keeping the backlog up to date and prioritized with the maintenance planner and supervisor. One of the key people for developing the weekly plan off of the planned work backlog.

  • Schedules and leads weekly planning meeting.

  • Shares in developing the schedules for outage, weekly, and daily work.

  • Shares in responsibility for recording what was done in the auditing process (operational work).

  • Helps determine whether break-in work is justified.

  • Primary person responsible for determining if contracted labor will be used for operational activities (hydro-blasting, cleaning, and vacuum work).

  • Shares the responsibility in determining whether work is outage or routine.

  • Serves as the overall outage coordinator. Assures all timelines are met.

  • Schedules, owns, and leads outage planning meetings and critiques.

  • Documents outage summary in the database for all machine outages.

  • Communicated scheduling changes to management, crews, and contractors.

  • Coordinates work scheduling meetings (daily and outage).

  • Helps resolve safety concerns with work.

  • Reviews operator round forms and ensures work order is written and completed with assistance of process managers (foreman). Follows up with operating crews after the completion of work.

  • Manages area reliability efforts through daily D.A. meetings (basic care, precision maintenance, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, etc.). Understands and tracks all top downtime hitters and aligns maintenance focus.

  • Quality

  • Support the quality initiatives established by the Paper Machine Superintendent in the pursuit of customer satisfaction.

  • Support the use of analytical troubleshooting skills.

  • RCFA

  • Assist in the maintaining of a list of top chronic or repetitive issue for the department and assign support leader to research and resolve the list.

  • Budgeting

  • Support the production in efforts to work with the finance department to set budgets and track for the following:

  • Overall Machine Efficiency (OME)

  • Maintain Area 5yr Capital and Repair, including EM/MOC Plan

  • Work with maintenance dept Repair job scopes.

  • Ensure area needs are prioritized and funded for continuous improvement with no loss of production ever for facilities failures.

  • Review and update the list at least semiannually.

What you need to succeed:

  • Good oral and written communications skills, highly skilled in group communication as well as one to one communication. Ability to determine effective and appropriate means of communication.

  • Fundamental understanding of mill processes affecting Paper Mill operations, preferred 5-years of operational and/or maintenance experience; Engineering degree or equivalent experience.

  • Familiar with statistical process control.

  • Knowledge of maintenance management principles including but not limited to precision maintenance, Preventative maintenance, root cause failure analysis, shutdown and contingency planning, and computer-based maintenance work systems; desire to work with maintenance as a team.

Compensation Offered

  • Pay (or pay range): $93,075 - $125,925 DOE (Junior, Intermediate, Senior levels)

  • Bonus/Commission Eligible: Yearly Short-Term Incentive Program (STIP) Bonus based off metrics
