Summary: JH Kelly has fully integrated electrical services and construction capabilities throughout the Northwest. Our team of over 200 Electricians works daily with owners, general contractors, and facility staff to deliver safe and reliable projects and services.

The Senior Project Manager for Electrical Commercial Projects plays a key role in leading the commercial electrical operations team and ensuring the successful execution of large-scale electrical projects in the Portland/Vancouver area and surrounding regions. This position is responsible for overseeing the entire business unit’s lifecycle, including planning, organizing, directing, controlling, coordinating, and managing financial aspects, while also mentoring and training staff to support their development. This position will handle multiple projects ranging from $10 million to $50 million in size and complexity, ensuring effective project management across various markets, sectors, and geographic regions. The ideal candidate will lead multiple teams to successful outcomes, foster relationships with key decision-makers to promote repeat business and establish a strong level of trust with senior management to consistently achieve positive results.

Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000 (based on experience and qualifications)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure, follow, and promote Company safety and quality protocols.

  • For multiple, concurrent projects:

  • Staff projects with capable resources.

  • Manage and support Project Managers in the performance of their responsibilities.

  • Assure the consistent application of project control procedures across projects.

  • Market/Sell JH Kelly services.

  • Ensure timely preparation and collection of billings.

  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all data associated with essential functions.

  • Ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, with no unresolved safety or quality issues, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Mentor and manage Interns, Field Engineers, Project Engineers and other project team members.

  • Maintain proactive and positive relationships within the crafts, including shop and field craft personnel, as well as supervision coworkers.

  • Maintain proactive and positive relationships with customer representatives, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, Safety, CAD/BIM, accounting, and IT.

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

    Relationships:

  • Maintain proactive and positive relationships within the crafts, including shop and field craft personnel.

  • Foster positive relationships with customer representatives, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, safety, CAD/BIM, accounting, IT, and all project teams.

    Experience / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Management, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent construction or trade experience/education.

  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in the full project management life cycle within the applicable construction industry.

  • Proven experience estimating and negotiating profitable work and developing customer relationships with key decision-makers.

  • Fully proficient in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam

  • Expert in Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling, using MS Project or comparable applications preferred.

  • Expert knowledge in Project Management, Construction Management, Construction Contracts, Quality Assurance/Quality control, and Safety.

    Necessary Skills:

  • Mentor, coach, develop, and manage project staff.

  • Ability to successfully manage and support concurrent projects.

  • Demonstrated abilities to perform Project Manager’s primary responsibilities in complex situations.

  • Ability to ensure that project teams consistently practice all standard company processes and procedures.

  • Serve as the 'leader in charge' of the project team for a single, large-scale project.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Self-starter, motivated, and takes initiative.

  • Organized and productive.

  • Ability to proactively build and cultivate relationships.

  • Ability to maintain proactive, collaborative, and professional relationships with Client Representatives, Suppliers, Subcontractors, and internal team.

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and projects at hand.

  • Energetic and eager to prioritize workload and tackle new projects and ideas.

  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.

    Physical Requirements:

    Physical requirements for this role include the ability to transition frequently between an office and a construction field setting. In the office, the individual must be able to sit for extended periods while working at a computer, performing repetitive tasks such as typing and using a mouse, and communicating by telephone. In the field, the individual must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods on various surfaces, including uneven terrain, and climbing stairs as required. The role also necessitates the ability to kneel, crouch, and crawl to view/inspect tight spaces, as well as occasionally lifting 40 pounds. Good vision and hearing are essential for reading plans, inspecting work, and communicating on-site. The individual must adhere to the site-specific dress code and comply with safety requirements by wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots. Flexibility to travel between job sites and work outside regular business hours when necessary is also required.
