SCOPE OF POSITION: To assist the Head (1st) Cook with the daily operations of the kitchen and dining facilities. To ensure the timely preparation and presentation of all meals to all our campers and fellow staff. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: Experience working with children preferred Kitchen experience preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Possess all food handler certification(s) as required by state and local law Able to maintain cleanliness & safety standards for kitchen and food services Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Publisher) required Be able to pass a child safety background check ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Assist with any food service preparation assigned by the Head (1st) Cook Be prepared to take responsibility for meal/snack preparation if required and ensure their readiness in accordance with the scheduled meal/snack times Be familiar with quantity requirements for menu items In accordance with state and county health codes, properly cool and store all leftovers and unopened food after each meal/snack Assist with cleaning and care facilities and equipment. Following the health department and industry safety standards and codes. Ensure that all kitchen cleanup is completed immediately following each meal/snack Secure kitchen before leaving at the end of all scheduled events Maintain safe and clean work habits at all times Attend and participate in training and conferences as assigned by the Head (1st) Cook and Summer Operations Director Give recommendations of replacement supplies through the Head (1st) Cook GENERAL DUTIES: Exhibit effective Christ-like conduct and service as an appropriate example for campers and staff Give support to the total camping program performing all other duties required to provide a consistently excellent program Attend and participate in all camp programs as required including, but not limited to evening programs, chapel activities, and staff meetings Follow all policies and procedures Maintain cleanliness and order in your person and living quarters Assist with cleanup of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis Grasp, push, pull objects, and reach overhead Operate a telephone and computer Lift up to 25 lbs. Understand verbal and written information Sweep, clean and perform other janitorial tasks as needed Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
