The HIM Tech analyzes the medical record for chart completion deficiencies, in accordance with regulatory requirements and medical staff rules and regulations.

Ensures any deficiencies are assigned to the appropriate medical staff member and data is entered for tracking, monitoring, and billing purposes.

Reviews documentation and updates or clears the deficiencies as appropriate. Performs audits for quality when requested.

Responsible for answering telephone calls and assisting visitors (including but not limited to physicians, patients, and their family members), while maintaining confidentiality.

Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
