Los Alamos National Laboratory M365 SharePoint Administrator (Computing Systems Professional 2/3) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

This position will be filled at either the Computing Systems Professional 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

The Computing Systems Professional will become part of a highly visible team that manages M365 products for Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The core of your responsibilities will be to maintain service availability, provide world class customer service to a licensed community of 20,650 users, and to design, participate, and develop technologies that exceed the collaboration needs for LANL. You will provide strong server and application administration and will participate in projects that include the migration of SharePoint on-premises to SharePoint Online. This migration includes the evaluation and redevelopment of supporting workflows and applications that can be found in both SharePoint and M365.

As a systems administrator you will primarily work on Microsoft Windows Server OS over the span of three different networks and with M365 Administration in a cloud environment. The technologies include SharePoint, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Nintex workflows, a variety of applications relevant to SharePoint and M365 Administration. Your role on the team will include consistent communication with both the SharePoint team and the larger M365 Team to help design and deploy collaboration and productivity tools.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Computing Systems Professional 2 ($83,900 - $136,200)

The successful candidate will perform a full spectrum of computing duties, including but not limited to:

  • Windows server operating system maintenance, governance, security, and troubleshooting.

  • Provide tier-3 level support utilizing ServiceNow incident management.

  • Vendor support and managing customer requirements.

  • Running scripts to automate tasks.

  • Support services related to SharePoint, SQL, and Power Automate/ Nintex workflows.

Computing Systems Professional 3 ($101,700 - $168,200)

In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, the Computing Systems Professional 3 will be required to:

  • Develop scripts and processes to automate team tasks.

  • Assist in the modernization design processes used to upgrade SharePoint as a service.

  • Review and design security solutions to meet compliance guidelines for SharePoint and the data it hosts.

  • Design, test and implement services related to SharePoint, SQL, and Power Automate/ Nintex workflows.

Education/Experience at Computing Systems Professional 2 level:

Position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of four years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Education/Experience at Computing Systems Professional 3 level:

Position requires a Bachelor's degree and 8 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, applicable advanced vendor and/or professional certification is desirable.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Power Automate and Nintex workflow design and implementation.

  • Experience migrating SharePoint sites to latest versions of service offerings.

  • Experience in managing recharge models for SharePoint.

  • Experience with Microsoft 365 services and concepts (Azure AD, Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Teams, etc.).

Work Location: The work location for this position is telework and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Telework is defined as working from offsite but within 2hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 Year.

Our team provides 24/7 support for the service and specific networks require the systems administrator to be on-site. This is accomplished with an on-call rotation that the teams manage.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
