BUSINESS CONTROLS ANALYST II

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

This position will work directly with the City National Bank's ("CNB") Business Control Managers ("BCM"s) and Business Control Senior Analyst and or Lead for Consumer Banking and will partner with the Risk Framework leadership team. Responsibilities will encompass understanding controls required for compliance with applicable regulations, identification of relevant issues, solution design, design of required controls and monitoring, leveraging industry practices and coordination with colleagues across the organization.This role is expected to contribute constructively and balance challenges, supporting alignment of business objectives with CNB's risk appetite and established limits.

What you will do

  • Provide support for the collection, review, and delivery of all deliverables and follow-up requests required for successful monitoring of completion of Compliance Training by division colleagues, Complaint Monitoring, Change Management, Procedure Reviews, and monitoring of the risk management 1LOD advisory function.

  • Analyze, evaluate and periodically review relevant compliance and risk management practices across the organization, including activities at network affiliates. Collaborate closely with colleagues across the 2nd and 3rd lines to strengthen the control environment and enhance risk management practices.

  • Analyze and evaluate data that effects the technical, operational, and business functions and provide insight to the practical impacts/implications to the business line.

  • Assist with monitoring colleagues progress with Enterprise Compliance Training to ensure division colleagues complete courses in a timely manner. Communicate effectively to division management to ensure colleagues in danger of missing training deadlines are appropriately supported.

  • Assist with Change Management through partnership with both 1LOD and 2LOD colleagues. Document regulatory updates, statutory changes and administrative actions taken by prudential regulators for review by 1LOD change management meeting. Communicate potential change management topics to 1LOD partners and follow up as needed to ensure a response from partners is received in a timely manner before weekly change management meeting.

  • Take opportunities to become familiar with mortgage origination and servicing processes to help provide meaningful guidance regarding escalations made to Business Controls 1LOD team

  • Act as a liaison representing Business Control Office at internal meetings; establishing and cultivating strong working relationships with all stakeholders. Attend meetings with and/or in place of SVP BCO VP, BCL or SVP, BCM, provide feedback and escalate decision.

  • Build and sustain effective relationships and alliances both internally and across all lines of business and staff areas to help deliver results and to ensure opportunities are identified, analyzed and managed appropriately. Understand interdependencies to achieve success.

  • Partner with team members to contribute concise communication materials for senior management. Develop presentations for internal and external meeting that are compelling, concise, and graphical to convey message.

  • Prioritize organizational risk management objectives.

  • Participate in special projects as necessary.

  • Facilitate audit and examination activities.

  • Working knowledge of applicable mortgage-related regulatory requirements, such as ECOA, FDPA, Fair Lending, Reg. O, Reg. W, RESPA, UDAAP, etc.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills demonstrating the ability to establish credibility with all levels of management effectively

  • Risk management expertise with proven experience in providing value added insights

  • 3+ years of risk management or Regulatory Compliance experience, preferred, or 3+ years of mortgage-related experience

  • Demonstrated history of successfully managing risk management activities (e.g., change management, procedure reviews, advisory function, complaint management) conducted by internal lines of defense and regulatory exams by external regulators.

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 3+ years within or related to financial services

Skills and Knowledge

  • 3 years in a role requiring complex problem solving

  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills - and ability to interact with colleagues at all levels in a peer-like way, and achieve goals without direct control over resources

  • Strong emerging end-to-end generalist problem solving skills, e.g.,

  • Defining and deconstructing problems

  • Prioritizing issues and analysis

  • Structuring and building quantitative and qualitative/conceptual analyses

  • Knowledge in Financial Services, Project Management

  • Demonstrated ability to Influence change, build relationships, communicate effectively, work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and deliver high caliber results.

  • Proficiency with MS Excel and PowerPoint

  • Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities.

  • Quick learning ability, outstanding analytical skills and a structured way of thinking, your attention to details is exceptional

  • Operate well under stress, even faced with tight timelines for ambitious deliverables Significant experience in driving operational change with front line to senior leadership personnel

  • Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills

  • Be able to handle uncertainty well, and are able to simplify complexity

Compensation

Starting base salary: $37.96 - $60.64 per hour. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
