Job Description:

We are seeking a Consultant to join our Economic Damages & Valuations team. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial, highly driven person with a well-rounded skill set to apply their finance and accounting knowledge across a variety of different projects.

As a Consultant on the Economic Damages & Valuations Team, your responsibilities will extend beyond those of traditional consultants. The ideal person for this role will need to not only have a strong grasp of accounting and finance concepts, but also be flexible and a strategic thinker able to take on a variety of tasks.

Assignments generally involve economic damages analyses for the purposes of litigation including personal injury, business litigation and employment law. This is a hybrid position in either our Los Angeles, CA or Newport Beach, CA office.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Financial statement analysis, financial modeling, company and industry research, and assistance in preparation of economic damages expert reports to be utilized for litigation, and compliance purposes

  • Assisting in reviewing and refuting expert reports and expert testimony

  • Design court exhibits

  • Participate in court testimony and depositions as needed

  • Managing document requests/production

  • Client interactions

    Required Qualifications :

  • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze large data sets and simplify/translate into a visual format.

  • Experience with financial modeling (e.g., three-statement projection models, discounted cash flow models, etc.)

  • Solid oral and written communications skills (including ability to develop narrative reports and other client communication materials).

  • Effective organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects in order to meet fluctuating deadlines and pressure situations with incomplete information.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to research industry and benchmark data and apply to subject companies.

  • Maintain the quality of the J.S. Held brand in all oral and written communications.

  • Ability to work collectively within teams.

    Physical and Mental Job Qualifications

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to commute to our local office

    A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $65,000 - $85,000. Any offered salary range is based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, training, location, scope of role, management responsibility, etc.
