Disney Entertainment Coordinator, Business Affairs (20th Television/Disney Entertainment Content) in Los Angeles, California

The ideal candidate will be either a recent law school or MBA graduate interested in learning the business/legal side of television/entertainment; or a seasoned legal assistant with experience drafting and revising agreements.

Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and revising deal memos and agreements for a team of busy negotiators

  • Learns and documents department policies/procedures and deal terms and serves as a knowledgeable resource for the team and other departments

  • Updates contract binders and Document Management systems, and distributes documents to various clients and internal partners. Accurately maintains and administers legal contracts filing systems, and assists in monitoring dates of legal significance (e.g., options and expirations)

  • Responds to questions from other departments regarding deal terms, the status of negotiations, etc.

  • Manages and directs written correspondence, and facilitates the execution of legal documents

  • Assists with preparation of legal documents and redlines, drafting routine letters, contracts, and other correspondence

  • May be asked to handle some administrative assistant-type tasks, including but not limited to answering phones; managing calendars, meetings and conference calls; booking/confirming travel; and managing expense reports.

  • Takes a first pass at reviewing budgets and credits for accuracy

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in the entertainment industry or agency setting

  • Previous exposure to legal issues specific to a network or studio a strong plus

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, DocuSign and Adobe Acrobat

  • Must have strong written (including legal drafting) and verbal communication skills

  • Must be detail-oriented with the ability to independently prioritize work and handle multiple tasks with set deadlines as a top priority, and possess excellent organizational and tracking skills

  • Because of exposure to high level confidential information, a high level of integrity, discretion and professionalism in dealing with senior professionals is required

  • Must be able to complete a high volume of tasks and projects quickly with little guidance and react with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require a quick response or turnaround.

  • Must be client-service oriented, with great attention to detail while still meeting tight deadlines, and the ability to easily switch gears.

Required Education:

  • Four year college degree required; law school or MBA preferred

The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $57,900 to $77,500 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
