Robert Half Cost Accounting Manager in Los Angeles, California

Description We are seeking a Cost Accounting Manager in the Textile Manufacturing industry, based in Los Angeles, California, United States. The role involves managing all accounting, reporting and analysis related to inventories, gross margins, and standard costs. The successful candidate will work closely with multiple departments including Product Development, Logistics, Sourcing and Sales, and will be instrumental in establishing accurate standard costs for all product styles.

Responsibilities:

• Directly report to the Director of Merchandise Accounting, managing all accounting, reporting and analysis concerning inventories, gross margins, and standard costs.

• Collaborate with multiple departments including the Product Development, Logistics, Sourcing and Sales.

• Establish accurate standard costs for all product styles in conjunction with Product, Sourcing and Logistics departments.

• Work closely with Sales leadership and Category Managers to provide costing information on new and existing products.

• Monitor inventory balances continuously and report on inventory adjustments as well as cost of goods sold (COGS).

• Prepare monthly journal entries related to inventory and COGS to record inventory movement, accruals for inventory in transit and amortization of capitalized variances.

• Ensure that inventories are properly valued and appropriately reserved under US GAAP, liabilities related to inventory purchases are properly stated, and gross margins are accurate.

• Prepare and review monthly reconciliations for all inventory related accounts across all global operating territories.

• Understand and document the company's current end to end inventory processes.

• Act as primary finance liaison in physical inventory counts, review monthly cycle count results, and investigate variances as needed.

• Establish and maintain inventory and COGS related internal controls and assist in preparing inventory and COGS related information for both internal and external auditors.

• Monitor low margin, slow moving inventory, and provide related financial reporting to relevant departments. Requirements • Proficiency in Cost Accounting with a proven track record in the textile manufacturing industry

• Demonstrated ability to perform Inventory Analysis and Account Reconciliation

• Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) is a must

• Strong knowledge of GAAP Accounting and its application in cost accounting

• Proficiency in using Excelsius software for data analysis and reporting

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including Excel Formulas

• Familiarity with other MS Excel tools and software for data management and reporting

• Ability to work in a team, meet strict deadlines, and deliver high-quality work under pressure

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with internal teams and external stakeholders

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; a Master's degree or relevant certifications would be a plus

• Prior experience in a managerial role in the textile manufacturing industry would be advantageous.
