About the Role:

As the Director of Finance, you will report directly to the

Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and work closely with the Chair of the

Department. You will be a key player in managing and resolving financial

matters for our faculty, institutions, and various UCLA departments. Your

responsibilities will include preparing annual budgets, monitoring budget

variances, and generating critical financial reports that drive our

decision-making processes.

In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with the Chair,

CAO, and the School of Medicine to implement and maintain sound fiscal

policies. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the financial health and

sustainability of the Department's operations, including the Doheny Eye Centers

across Pasadena, Arcadia, and Orange Coast.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead financial management and reporting across all Department locations, ensuring accuracy and transparency.

• Prepare and present monthly and quarterly clinical financial reports, providing detailed insights for the Affiliation Oversight Committee (AOC) and faculty.

• Oversee quarterly and annual financial reconciliations between Doheny and UCLA, ensuring compliance and accuracy.

• Manage research expense reviews and net research cost invoicing in partnership with Doheny staff.

• Optimize faculty salary allocations and manage fund distribution.

• Spearhead the invoicing process for all Basic Research and clinical grant funding requests to the Doheny Eye Institute.

• Conduct financial analyses, develop projections, and create strategic plans for presentation to the CAO, Department Chair, and the Board of Trustees.

What We're Looking For:

• A proven track record with at least 5 years in a senior administrative or financial leadership role.

• A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related business field (CPA certification is preferred).

• Exceptional financial analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex budgets and data.

• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a team, while effectively managing workflows to meet objectives.

• Expertise in creating and maintaining financial information systems tailored to organizational needs.

• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across departments.

• Advanced computer proficiency, particularly with Excel (SQL and Tableau experience is highly desirable).

role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are

considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to

experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and

certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical

for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a

position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications

and experience. The full salary range for this position is $ $124,600 to $289,400

with a target range of $180,000-$186,000. .
