UCLA Health Facilities Management Specialist 2 - DLAM in Los Angeles, California
Description
Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Supervisor
for the Division of Laboratory Animal Medicine (Facilities Management and
Building Operations), the Facilities Management Specialist 2 performs duties including coordinating and
executing programmatic projects such as departmental equipment and space
inventory, evaluation of processes to determine opportunities to increase
efficiency, as well as the steps to implement lean management practices. They
will also interact with vendors, provide back up in the different areas that the
Facilities Supervisor oversees; also, coordinating, receiving and verifying new
orders including animals, equipment and supplies. Additional administrative
support is also expected including processing vivarium access requests,
ordering keys, and answering to faculty and laboratory staff inquires. In addition, the Facilities Management Specialist 2 will demonstrate initiative in problem solving and informing supervisor as
necessary as based on the impact to building, occupants, and building systems.
They will also apply organizational policies and procedures to resolve routine
issues.
Salary Range: $33.87 - $51.33 Hourly
Qualifications
Required:
Minimum 3 years of experience in related field (Animal Research)
Working knowledge of the standards and guidelines of the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, the Animal Welfare Act, and UCLA policies to insure proper and humane animal husbandry
Knowledge, skill, and ability in animal husbandry and cage wash operations
Knowledge of facility maintenance practices and procedures along with safety and emergency preparedness
Skill in interpreting documents such as complex technical procedures, instructions, manuals, specifications, blueprints and diagrams
Knowledge of common safety procedures, regulations, and applicable codes
Effective written and verbal communication skills to prepare a variety of correspondence, reports and documentation
Knowledge of the use of standard organization computer applications, Word, Excel and other common desktop applications
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of a team
Ability to read, write and perform basic arithmetic calculations
Ability to lift feed bags up to 50 lbs
Preferred:
Knowledge of OSHA Guidelines
Knowledge of Campus Map
Knowledge of Research Labs
