    Position description

SUMMARY OF ORGANIZATION/UNIT

The UCLA Ed&IS Department of Information Studies is a powerhouse in an increasingly vital field. As a leading architect of the agenda for how information is disseminated and deployed in the 21st century, we believe that open and frictionless access enables incredible outcomes and creates a better and more equitable world. The Department is home to UCLA’s iSchool. The international iSchool community is dedicated to advancing the information fields. iSchools promote an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the opportunities and challenges of information management, with a core commitment to concepts like universal access and user-centered organization of information.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Department of Information Studies at UCLA seeks to hire a temporary, part-time lecturer to teach within the MLIS graduate program. Course(s) may include the following, and the lecturer may also be assigned additional courses according to the instructional needs in the department and in conformity with departmental lecturer workload policies:

• INF STD 233: “Records and Information Resources Management”: [Introduction to records and information resources management in corporate, government, and other organizational settings, including analysis of organizational information flow, classification and filing systems, records retention scheduling, records protection and security, reprographics and image management technology, and litigation support.]

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities will include lecturing, conducting regularly scheduled office hours, and the writing and grading of assignments and exams.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A Master’s in Library and Information Science or related discipline is required by date of hire.
