Jacobs Rail & Transit Practice Lead in Los Angeles, California

We’re seeking a Transit/Rail Practice Lead to join our team based out of Irvine, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose or Oakland, California, who can apply their experience in the Transit/Rail industry to today’s challenges.

You will work in collaboration with our California Market Growth Director and Director of Operations to develop and implement a Transit/Rail strategy for California. This effort includes building a team of Transit/Rail engineers and planners to deliver our client's most challenging projects and to foster the growth of our California Transit/Rail team.

As a practice leader, you are responsible for driving the growth of the Transit/Rail practice to advance our transportation business unit's strategic goals. In this role, you will also be responsible for understanding the unique trends in the market and using that knowledge to work with our team to create technical differentiation from that of our competitors while serving as an important conduit between our National Market Solution (technology) Leaders, California Sales Leaders, and our operations (delivery) leadership and practice staff in our Transportation Business Unit.

As an experienced member of our team, you will manage our largest and most complicated projects and client services in planning, design and services during construction. In addition to leading projects, you’ll play an integral role in mentoring more junior staff, forming long-term relationships with clients and pursuing new work, including marketing and strategy development, positioning, procuring, and negotiating contracts. As Project Lead, you will lead multidiscipline planning and design teams to complete tasks within established schedules and budgets and help advance our business development strategies. The salary range posted reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all listed US locations. Qualified applicants with criminal histories will be considered for employment.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil engineering or a related discipline.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure from the State of California or ability to obtain within 12 months.

  • Demonstrated understanding of transit and rail design and planning.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Demonstrated self-starter.

  • Project management experience for Transit/Rail projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with clients and win work.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • At least 15 years of experience.

  • Strong network with Transit/Rail municipalities
