What you will you be doing in this role:

The Senior Financial Analyst provides detailed, advanced financial and analytical support and helps improve the effectiveness of reporting activities to streamline processes and improve information to drive value. Serves as liaison to management between other financial service areas. Handles a full range of project components in an independent and autonomous manner, independently trouble-shoots problems and recommends or implements corrective action. Works in close collaboration with all levels of management. The Senior Financial Analyst will play an integral role in the month-end general ledger closing process and be responsible for preparing journal entries when appropriate. The Senior Financial Analyst will assist with the preparation of labor corrections for research projects and assists with reconciling reports across projects, funds, and cost centers for these labor costs. Will work closely with the Grant and Fund Accounting Manager and the rest of the Finance team in fulfilling the following responsibilities:

  • Generates and creates financial reports on a recurring and ad-hoc basis.

  • Assists with processing the historical correction submitted by the departments for percent allocation, labor cost transfer corrections, and input of New Intake Form for Non-Research.

  • Assumes the responsibility for processing cost transfers and fund transfers from the Office of Research Administration (ORA) for expenses that occur between cost centers, funds, and projects.

  • Understands and supports the business requirements to work with ORA, the DRA, and Finance in order to maintain compliance for overall Grants Research as well as General Accounting Principles.

  • Provide support to the PI(s) and their research staffs in addressing questions in their process of completing the appropriate cost transfer forms.

  • Assists the department in reading reports in Tableau to verify their transfers were processed and posted correctly and in a timely manner.

  • Conduct periodic review of the accounting for the correcting entries that were posted both to projects as well as on the general ledger.

  • Coordinate with ORA and Finance in order to meeting our month end and year end closing schedule in Oracle.

  • Effectively manages fluctuating volumes of costs transfers submitted by the department throughout the month with a high level of detail and accuracy.

  • Completes complex/special assignments.

  • Researches and resolves inquiries for assigned functional areas. Provides analytic support to various departments/service lines.

  • Routinely communicates with supervisors relating to issues and deliverables.

  • Applies federal and state regulatory and licensing requirements, as well as organizational by-laws, rules and regulations, and policies and procedures to all assigned projects.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or another similar relevant degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

  • A minimum of 3 years financial analysis, financial auditing or accounting experience required.

  • Experience with accounting in a healthcare environment preferred.

Experience/Skills Sought:

Detail oriented and be able to prepare various work products from the perspective of a reviewer.

Strong computer skills, primarily in Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Flexible with the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and priorities.
