Jacobs is seeking a Project Manager - Telecom Facilities to join our team supporting our client in the Los Angeles, CA area. You will be responsible for representing the Owner in managing the maintenance of a Land Mobile Radio (LMR) public safety radio system, with a focus on facilities, as well as overseeing various enhancement projects.

In this role, you will utilize your expertise to manage a primary contractor responsible for the bulk of site maintenance duties, while also overseeing additional contractors to fill in various service gaps. Your goal will be to ensure the radio network continues to operate to standards with 99.9999% uptime for various public safety agencies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage maintenance of LMR public safety radio system

  • Manage a primary contractor responsible for the bulk of site maintenance duties.

  • Oversee, negotiate, and assist in the procurement of additional contractors to fill in various service gaps.

  • Represent the Owner in various weekly meetings managing the maintenance of the radio system by the primary contractor.

  • Document issues from field team reports, communicate them with the appropriate contractor, and track resolution.

  • Develop a strong understanding of the contract and maintenance agreement to negotiate appropriate care of the system and prevent the contractor breaching responsibilities under the Agreement.

  • Ensure the contractor stays on track with annual and bi-annual maintenance needs

  • Attend technical discussions covering the LMR radio system as well as various facilities improvements and issue resolutions.

  • Bridge the gap between facilities and radio systems to better understand system needs.

  • Manage various enhancement projects for the radio system.

  • Projects include items such as the replacement and upgrade of emergency backup generators, tower demolition, electrical systems upgrades, etc.

  • Negotiate with site owners and public agencies to resolve disputes, issues, or changes at various site locations.

  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, project progress, and contractor performance.

  • Provide regular reports to stakeholders on system status and project updates.

  • Bachelor Degree

  • 10+ years of Construction or Project Management Experience

  • 5+ years of proven experience with public safety or Telecom communications

  • 5+ years of proven experience with facilities management including generators, fuel systems, DC battery systems, HVAC systems, Fire Suppression Systems, public utility providers (SCE, LADWP), etc.

  • Proficiency with MS office products including outlook, excel, word, and .pdf editing software.

  • Strong working knowledge of pre-design and pre-construction, building systems/components and technology, contract management, project delivery methods, team building and client relationship building.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have: 

  • IT experience or aptitude

  • 10+ years of proven experience with public safety communications land mobile radio technologies

  • Familiarity with existing radio communications platforms in the region
