Our Fortune 500 client is seeking a UX Researcher for their Game/App development! This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of consumer VR research, contributing to the development of groundbreaking gaming and app experiences. User Experience Researcher (UXR) - Game/App Development

Los Angeles, CA

12 month contract with likely extension

$50-$52/hour

We are seeking a User Experience Researcher (UXR) to join our clients team and work directly with game and app development teams. You will turn their needs and goals into actionable research plans to enhance the user journey and optimize consumer engagement. This role will focus on leading playtests and usability studies, alongside managing end-to-end survey research. You will gather insights that will drive the development of immersive gaming and app experiences, helping us to understand and meet consumer needs in the rapidly evolving VR space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Playtests & Usability Testing :

  • Develop and execute research plans to assess usability and user experience for apps and games.

  • Work with recruiting teams to identify suitable participants, moderate sessions, and deliver actionable findings.

  • Survey Management :

  • Design and program surveys using Meta’s internal tools or Qualtrics, source potential respondents using SQL, and analyze survey data using tools like R or SPSS.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to synthesize and present research insights.

  • Data Analysis & Reporting :

  • Turn qualitative and quantitative data into clear, actionable insights to inform product decisions.

  • Present research findings to stakeholders, ensuring clarity and relevance to the development teams.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration :

  • Engage with a diverse set of stakeholders, including external development teams, to ensure research objectives align with project goals.

Top 3 Non-Negotiable Skills

  • Proven experience moderating user research sessions and usability tests.

  • Ability to translate both qualitative and quantitative data into actionable insights.

  • Strong collaboration skills across diverse teams and stakeholders.

Preferred/Bonus Skills

  • Experience in video game user research, particularly in the VR space.

  • Expertise in survey writing and management.

  • Background in the entertainment, media, or music publishing industries.

  • Knowledge of the research agency landscape, especially those focused on entertainment and media.

  • Familiarity with app development research or VR user research.

  • Passion for video games and/or VR is a plus.

  • Experience with data analysis and modeling in R or SPSS.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, or related fields is required.

  • 5+ years of user research experience can be considered in place of a degree.
