Otak, Inc. Construction Project Engineer in Louisville, Colorado

This person's overall responsibilities will include construction contract administration, primarily on transportation projects, representing government agencies, such as CDOT, counties, and municipalities. This is a full-time position. Typical work locations will be in the Denver/Boulder metropolitan area, but travel may be required depending on the project assignment and hours may vary.

This position will be based out of our Louisville, CO location.

What you'll do:

Build and maintain relationships with clients and contractors employing a "project first" approach. Assist in resolving construction challenges by anticipating potential issues, proposing solutions, and clarifying plans and specifications. Conduct and facilitate inspections of infrastructure construction projects and materials to ensure compliance with approved construction plans, specifications and other applicable codes and standards. Perform both office and field contract administration duties including review and interpretation of plans, specifications, and other contract documents, documentation of contractor activities, tracking quantities for payment, change management, supervising and assigning work to team members, evaluating contractor schedules, and providing outstanding service to Maintain detailed records of construction actives including but not limited to safety concerns, contractor onsite personnel, equipment, construction methods, work zone traffic control, and stormwater and erosion control measures. Prepare project documentation in accordance with CDOT, FHWA, and/or local agency guidelines. Evaluate, review, and negotiate change order requests. What you bring:

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related program from an accredited institution and be licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado. A minimum of eight (8) years progressive experience in inspection and construction management of public projects. Preferred candidate will have extensive experience as a Construction Manager with knowledge of material properties, CDOT specifications and contract administration practices. Experience managing and coordinating with subconsultants. Familiarity with current construction observation reporting and procedure requirements for CDOT, Federal Aid, and other government agency projects. Preferred CDOT Class/Certifications for: Transportation Erosion Control Supervisor (CDOT), Traffic Control Supervisor, Basic Highway Math, Basic Highway Plan Reading, Basic Construction Surveying (these can be substituted with Professional Engineering License or an engineering degree from an accredited institution). Willingness to develop staff and work closely with clients, engineers, and subconsultants to ensure exemplary service is provided to clients. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Preferred candidate will also have experience with project management, client management, and staff management. Ability to work extended hours, nights, and weekends if necessary to comply with client requirements and/or to meet project requirements. Must have valid driver's license. The salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience, qualifications, and work location as well as market and business considerations.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000 per year
