Waystar Manager, Developer Experience Engineering in Louisville, Kentucky

ABOUT THIS POSITION

We are looking for a driven engineering manager to lead our Developer Experience team. The Manager of Developer Experience Engineering is a Devops leader that is responsible for driving exponential improvements in Waystar’s CI/CD. They will select, implement, and integrate the tools and processes necessary to create, integrate, test, deploy, and run the code that powers our world-class platform. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple projects/priorities effectively.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Manages all day-to-day activities of the team. Ensures team is operating using scrum methodologies and rituals.

  • Oversees the daily operations of the team, including managing CI/CD pipelines, automation processes, and infrastructure maintenance. Ensures the reliability and performance of systems and applications.

  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of team workflows

  • Works with the Application Development teams to prioritize CI/CD enhancement requests, identify opportunities to improve the developer experience and implement Waystar SDLC policy and procedures

  • Communicates team roadmaps, project plans and sprint metrics to leadership to gain alignment

  • Schedules projects and resources, and monitors project timelines; will ultimately be accountable for the success or failure of all team projects

  • Conducts People Operations responsibilities for all assigned team members, including performance reviews, disciplinary action, and communication of companywide announcements

  • Motivates and provides guidance to team members to accomplish team goals through counseling, performance reviews, mentoring, and team building activities

  • Coaches team members, helping them develop into more senior/experienced engineers

  • Establishes training offerings, suited for individuals’ needs, for them to progress in their career goals

  • Technical capabilities are on par with the Technical Lead

  • Additional duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • 7+ years of enterprise level coding experience, preferably C# .NET

  • 3+ years’ experience as an Engineering Manager or Technical Lead/Lead Engineer

  • Experience managing technical projects, including planning, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members, stakeholders, and executive leadership.

  • Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment & welcome change

  • Highly self-motivated

  • Ability to develop career plans for team members

  • Experience building highly reliable software solutions

  • Subject Matter Expertise in Devops

  • Ability to run a team of 4+ team members

  • Able to plan and initiate multi-quarter projects with a full project team

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience
