This position serves as the strategic leader on all University end-to-end Total Rewards including Compensation, Health & Welfare administration, and Retirement. This Director-level position is responsible for leading and overseeing total rewards for 7,000+ individuals on the Belknap, Shelbyhurst, and Health Sciences campuses. As the subject matter expert, this individual will have an in-depth understanding of external best-practices and innovative trends. In addition, the leader will spend considerable time managing the Compensation and Total Rewards Study, improving processes, creating efficiencies, streamlining, and team building. The Director will plan and direct the development, implementation, and execution of Total Reward programs for the purpose of attracting, motivating, and retaining a caliber of work force consistent with corporate objectives, the University's 2021 Vision and 21st Century Initiative. This is a very visible position that opens at a critical moment in the University's Human Resources evolution and will work directly with key leaders across the University to align the Total Rewards initiatives and impact to the University's strategic direction. Position is located on the Belknap Campus with a hybrid work arrangement. A rotation at the Health Sciences Campus (HSC) and in person visits to customers may be required. Position will be advertised until filled. Applications received by February 12, 2024.Responsibilities:At a high level, responsible for driving business results by supporting strategic initiatives, influencing the return on employee investment through compensation and benefit strategies that accomplish the desired behavioral and performance outcomes.Provide business partnership and internal consulting on all total rewards issues, including market trends, competitive data, and applicable laws / regulations. Communicate business impacts to Executive team and University leadership.Assist the VPHR, establish and actively participate on the Retirement Committee and Compensation Committee. Develop and maintain polices for each function through inclusiveness and collaboration.Develop new, streamlined, automated, efficient processing for all areas within the Compensation function with a key focus on customer service and communication.Focus on best practice, progressive and strategic compensation and benefit development and provide detailed recommendations for implementation of new programs or the modifications of existing programs.Lead and collaborate in the design, implementation and administration of compensation programs. Direct the strategic development and application of techniques, job descriptions, job evaluations, job design, analysis, market pricing, and classifications.Manage communications regarding compensation and benefit plans and policies to ensure the best return and to educate the University community about both the content and the value of the programs being provided. Monitor the wellness program to drive efficient and cost-effective operational practices.Determine appropriate levels of annual benefit premiums based on costs, funding and organizational philosophy. Look for ways to increase benefit offerings while maintaining costs for both the organization and the employee.Ensure compliance with laws and regulations which control or impact compensation, benefit, and wellness plans and policies.Participate in policy development including negotiations and the collaborative process as it relates to compensation and benefit objectives.Represent the University in the community, CUPA, programs and conferences.Participate in the development of programs as a strategic partner that supports the organizations mission and vision objectives.Lead and collaborate in the development of annual departmental budget, monitor budget and identify budget discrepancies. Research cause and make recommendations.Provide leadership and guidance to exempt and non-exempt staff in accordance with company standards and best practices in accordance with applicable Federal and State Laws.Work with finance partners to monitor claim trends and impacts to business segments at the department level.
