Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Staff Tax Accountant to join our team. The Staff Tax Accountant will primarily be responsible for providing support in various tax-related functions, including sales tax filing and support, examination of sales tax exemption certificates, income tax filing support, payroll tax oversight, and general accounting support including key contributing roles on department initiative projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct sales tax filing and support activities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and deadlines.
  • Examine sales tax exemption certificates to verify accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide support in income tax filing processes, collaborating with other members of the accounting department and 3rd party tax providers to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
  • Oversee payroll tax processes, including calculations, filings, and compliance with tax laws.
  • Offer general accounting support as needed, assisting with financial reporting, reconciliation, and analysis.
  • Develop and document processes and procedures to support sales tax filings, ensuring consistency and efficiency in tax-related activities.
  • Develop and document processes and procedures for the submission and review of sales tax exemption certificates, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations, implementing necessary adjustments to ensure compliance and optimize tax-related processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, information technology, sales, and operations, to address tax-related inquiries and provide guidance on tax matters.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Proven experience in tax accounting, with a focus on sales tax, income tax, and payroll tax.
  • Strong understanding of tax laws and regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply them effectively.
  • Experience with tax software and accounting systems, preferably including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive tax information.
