As a Cardiology Technician you will assist the physician with cardiac catheterizations by getting equipment ready, providing a sterile field, monitoring/charting patient vital signs, etc.

The main location is at Banner NCMC in Greeley, but you will also be traveling to Banner McKee depending on the needs of the facilities. This position is 7:00am-4:30pm, working four days, Monday-Friday. Weekend call is required based on needs.

Banner McKee Medical Center is a 117-bed, acute-care hospital in Loveland, Colorado, a vibrant arts community located 40 minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park. Our hospital offers an array of inpatient and outpatient services including medical, pediatric, orthopedic, surgical, heart, cancer, and critical care. The Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center is amongst Northern Colorado's leading cancer diagnosis and treatment facilities. Banner McKee is also a Level III trauma center. We are the only hospital in the Rocky Mountain region to be designated an Epicenter for robotic-assisted gynecological surgery by Intuitive Surgical, the manufacturer of the DaVinci surgical robot. Our physicians, nurses and other health care professionals can train on state-of-the-art computerized patient simulation mannequins in our simulation center. Banner McKee is accredited by The Joint Commission.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position assists physicians and collaborates with other health professionals during the performance of diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide optimal care\treatment to patient population.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. Assists during the performance of diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures to treat heart disease in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

  2. Prepares patients and work area for procedures in accordance with departmental policies. Pulls appropriate instruments and supplies and ensures good working order of instruments. Reviews case for correct instruments and supplies. Plans ahead for upcoming case needs.

  3. Demonstrates knowledge of procedures and techniques, i.e. knowledge of normal and abnormal ECG rhythms and/or lead changes, various hemodynamic values, normal and abnormal pressures, ST elevation/depression. Monitors and records ECG and pressure waves during the procedures. Provides other aspects of patient care as needed.

  4. Demonstrates the principles of aseptic and sterile techniques as well as universal precautions throughout the procedure. Disposes of sharps and trash and places used supplies into case cart for processing. Prepares instruments for cleaning following each case.

  5. Participates in stocking, replenishing supplies and cleaning.

  6. Accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to the scope of practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information. Adheres to all safety policies.

  7. This position works under the direction of a physician or other health care professional. Internal customers: Physicians, all levels of nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients and family members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.

Certification for BLS required. ACLS may be required depending on assignment.

This position requires clinical knowledge typically achieved with 2+ years of experience in a clinical setting. The position requires the ability to maintain professional decorum in highly stressful emergent situations. The position requires the ability to be conscientious, organized, and orderly and the ability to respond quickly to the needs of the health care staff and patient.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience working in a Cardiac Cath Lab and certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) preferred.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
