Full Time Overnight Campus Security Officer

Location: Lowell, MA

Shift: Thursday-Monday OR Wednesday-Saturday Overnight, 9pm-5am

Position Overview:

Securitas USA is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Overnight Campus Security Officer to join our campus security team in Lowell, MA. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors during overnight hours. The ideal candidate will possess strong observational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to upholding campus safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol Duties: Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols of campus buildings, grounds, and parking areas to deter and detect signs of suspicious activity or safety hazards.

  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergencies, including medical incidents, fire alarms, and security breaches. Provide assistance and coordinate with emergency services as needed.

  • Surveillance Monitoring: Monitor security cameras and alarm systems to ensure campus safety and security. Report any irregularities or security breaches to the appropriate authorities.

  • Incident Reporting: Document and report incidents, including security violations, accidents, and disturbances. Prepare detailed and accurate written reports.

  • Access Control: Manage and monitor access to campus buildings and restricted areas. Ensure that only authorized personnel enter secure areas.

  • Customer Service: Provide a high level of customer service to students, staff, and visitors. Offer assistance, directions, and information as needed.

  • Policy Enforcement: Enforce campus policies and regulations, including those related to parking, building access, and conduct.

  • Safety Inspections: Conduct routine safety inspections of campus facilities, ensuring that all safety equipment is functional and identifying potential hazards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Relevant certifications in security or criminal justice is preferred.

  • Experience: Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is desirable. Experience working in a campus or educational environment is a plus.

  • Skills:

  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.

  • Proficiency in using security systems and technology.

  • Certifications: Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to walk, stand, and patrol for extended periods.

  • Availability: Must be able to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.
