Navico Group– Lowell, MI– Engineering Co-op/ Intern

Navico Group is a division of Brunswick, which designs and manufactures a broad product portfolio of electrical components and power management systems for the marine, recreational vehicle, emergency vehicle, specialty vehicle, and industrial markets. Navico Group out of Lowell, MI is the sonar wing of Navico Group. We are an OEM that designs and assembles Navico Group and external components into a complete system to bring forth the highest quality user experience.

What are we seeking?

As an Engineering Co-op or Intern you will work collaboratively and independently with highly qualified engineering professionals who are responsible for the design, production and manufacturing of items in the recreational boating industry.

Summary of the Position:

You will be an integral member of an engineering team committed to delivering superior results. You'll learn how to work with a team as you own and manage assigned projects from inception to completion.

Time Commitment:

Co-op Dates: January 2025 - August 2025 & May 2025 - December 2025

Intern Dates: Summer 2025

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support the mechanical design of various systems and components

• Assist with validation test plans and testing

• Complete time studies and assist with process improvements as well as labor balancing activities

• Utilize CAD software/Creo

• Be a contributor on problem solving, cost reduction, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives

• Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions to problems.

In addition to a great hands-on learning experience, you will also acquire the skills needed to:

• Select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, criteria, and judgment in a real-world, hands-on, cross-functional environment

• Become experienced in design, failure analysis, data reduction/analysis, documenting and authenticating testing results, and technical report writing

Internship project opportunities:

· Assist in implementation of visual work instruction platform

· Lead continuous improvement initiatives

Basic Qualifications:

• Current enrollment in a BS program with a major in Engineering

• Minimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits

• Availability to work full-time (40 or more hours per week) through a full co-op term running January to August 2025 or June to December 2025 or be available for summer 2025

Preferred Qualifications:

• Creative ability with strong mechanical aptitude

• Basic office skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• The ability to enroll in a formalized co-op Program through your university

• Dependable, self-motivated and engaged learner
