Position Description:

Designs, implements and manages an assigned program. Typical duties can include but are not limited to: Identify funding opportunities, conduct program assessments, prepare program reports, oversee and manage program marketing and communications, manage program databases, supervise program staff, plan research activities, coordinate program events, participate in strategic planning, manage program files, establish program standards and objectives, direct logistical activities to promote the success of programs, develop and implement project timelines and ensures deadlines are met, oversee program budget, ensure goals and objectives of grants are met, assists in proposal writing, comply and analyze program statistics.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate, schedule, and manage synchronous and asynchronous tools and equipment used in the delivery of Distance Learning classes, including classroom audiovisual technology, videoconferencing, and recording/streaming equipment.

  • Coordinate with director, instructors, administrators, students, and staff to help identify issues and troubleshoot equipment affecting distance learning classrooms and students.

  • Provide Distance Learning program and course information to prospective students, referring to an appropriate advisor when necessary.

  • Participate in activities that support the College of Engineering's community outreach and recruiting efforts.

  • Assist in maintaining and updating the Distance Learning website.

  • Perform other assigned duties under the direction of the Director.

This position supervises student assistants who are responsible for actively monitoring and troubleshooting basic audiovisual problems in the distance learning classrooms during course instruction.

Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Knowledge in distance or online learning methodologies, technologies, and learning management systems. Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies. Demonstrated written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Organizational skills and initiative; ability to work well in a team environment. Problem-solving aptitude in approaching issues while exercising independent judgment and ethical decision-making with a minimal amount of supervision. Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public. Strong attention to detail and capacity to work in a fast paced, customer service oriented, professional environment. Professional attitude and appearance; openness to continued learning and upgrading of skills.

Experience with adult learners in a university environment. Ability to think "outside the box" and to lead and manage change in a positive and inclusive manner. Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with audio visual technology. Experience with Mediasite video streaming platform and familiarity with Learning Management Systems.
