Programmer Analyst III

Position Description:

The Programmer Analyst III's role is to develop, test, analyze, and maintain software applications in support of business requirements. This position will also research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production life cycle. Additionally, the Programmer Analyst III is also responsible for supervising and/or leading the development of new systems, directing changes to existing systems and controlling the interfaces between the systems, initiating complex feasibility studies and making recommendations of the action to be taken.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Designs and implements new software solutions in collaboration with other Library departments to fulfill the TTU Libraries mission and Technology Support Operations processes.

  • Prioritizes problems and requests, acting upon them in a timely manner.

  • Enhances TTU Library website and web applications under the direction of supervisor, Web Librarian, and Website Team.

  • Creates documentation on completed projects including the transition to LTMS Support.

  • Works alongside fellow LTMS programmers to promote a group work environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Programming experience in a Windows development environment.

  • Familiarity with database-driven applications and SQL.

  • Skill with Windows servers.

  • Understanding of HTML/CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and XML.

  • Experience creating program documentation.

  • Working knowledge of networking protocols.

  • Familiarity with open-source software concepts.

  • Ability to learn new programming languages or techniques quickly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing large programming projects; familiarity with library-specific systems and library technology.

  • Familiarity with cutting-edge web development technologies including jQuery.

  • Ability to manage collaborative software development environments and code repositories.

  • Skill with PHP, Python, and C#.NET programming languages.

  • Familiarity with MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server databases.

  • Experience maintaining and debugging live software systems.

  • Ability to document workflow and process engineering; integrity, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and the ability to collaborate.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT, or other related area plus three (3) years related full-time paid experience OR a combination of related education and/or experience.
