Position Description:

Performs manual work involving the cleaning and care of buildings. Individuals in this position are expected to know and follow accepted custodial procedures associated with their job, to develop some understanding of other related jobs in the organization, and possibly act as lead worker in a group of custodians. Responsibility for the application of accepted cleaning methods and materials in the custodial maintenance of apartments, lounges, offices, bathrooms, classrooms, and other areas requiring continuous physical activity. Work is performed under general supervision and evaluated for conformance to established practices and standards. Performs related duties as required

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Performs duties of Restroom Specialist this includes making sure restrooms are free of trash and debris, emptying trash and other containers, and refilling product dispensers.

  • Performs duties of Light Duty Specialist: Empties trash, Takes all trash and recycling to a collectionarea. Detail cleans assigned areas on a weekly basis.

  • Performs duties of Vacuum Specialist: Vacuums assigned areas and maintains vacuum equipment.

  • Performs duties of Utility Specialist: Detail and spot clean first impression, visible areas including stairwells, and elevators.

  • Assist in all floor care which includes knowledge of carpet cleaners and carpets cleaning and floor equipment, following established procedures to maintain acceptable levels of finish with expected quality.

Required Qualifications:

Two years experience in general custodial work. Working knowledge of the basic methods, materials, and equipment used in assigned work. Ability to understand and follow general instructions. Ability to operate and use cleaning equipment. Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time. General knowledge of related jobs in the organization.
