Position Description:

Performs specialized Post Doctoral work in the planning, conducting and/or supervision of original research. Responsible for participating in a research project associated with PhD studies and the interpretation of the results of publication. Work is performed under supervision of graduate faculty members with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. May supervise research and student assistants.

  • Collaborate, design, and publish research on teacher labor markets and/or postsecondary and workforce trajectories for historically marginalized students

  • Support or lead program evaluation related to community-engaged research projects

  • Develop grant proposals related to topics mentioned above

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in using quasi-experimental research methods, particularly those suited for analyzing large, longitudinal datasets

  • Proficiency in STATA or R statistical software packages

  • A track record of publication, or evidence of strong peer-reviewed publication potential

  • Evidence of research collaborations involving practitioners or other relevant educational stakeholders

  • Evidence of an education policy-oriented research agenda with an interest in working both collaboratively as well as independently

  • Demonstrated interest in developing and conducting research-to-policy-to-practice research with and for education policymakers

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated evidence of excellent written and verbal communication

Desired Qualifications

  • Potential for developing a significant record of scholarship (research, publication, funding) in the field of education policy and evaluation research

  • Experience developing and implementing survey design and analysis

  • Experience developing and implementing large-scale, team-based projects

  • Significant organizational skills and/or practical experience coordinating large-scale, team-based projects involving both data collection and analysis activities

  • Mentorship experience with early-stage graduate-level or undergraduate researchers

Required Qualifications:

PhD in area of project specialization. Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof. Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions and other outcomes. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to plan and allocate the workload of employees, providing direct training and supervision as needed.

About the Department and/or College:

The Center for Innovative Research in Change, Leadership, and Education(CIRCLE) in the College of Education at Texas Tech University is seeking a Post-Doctorate Research Associate who will support evaluation and research across multiple projects related to the education programs and projects at the local, institutional, state, and federal levels.

The mission of the Center for Innovative Research in Change, Leadership, and Education (CIRCLE) is to provide empirical research, training, and evaluation in collaboration with community partners, using interdisciplinary approaches, on issues that influence educational experiences and outcomes of students, leadership, and policy throughout thePK-20 system.

Located in the College of Education at Texas Tech University, CIRCLE research and evaluation activities focus on improving equitable educational policy, practice, and outcomes through partnerships, stakeholder priority focus, empirical analyses, evidence-based policy, actionable results, and research-informed practice. A key focus across these core areas is connecting educational research to policy and practice. The Center faculty specialize in program evaluation and the use of large-scale, longitudinal datasets to inform decision-making at local, state, and national levels.
