JOB SUMMARY

Implement and execute the collection/recovery process for assigned portfolios, including but not limited to approval of payment relief, settlements, repossession, charge off, foreclosure, attorney assignment, etc. Provide

leadership, guidance and direction of the entire process to ensure consistency and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Manage the department to meet established loss, recovery, and/or delinquency goals of bank.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop and coach leadership staff to effectively lead their team to meet established goals.

  2. Develop team members to fullest potential through regular communication and feedback.

  3. Regularly review, evaluate, and amend, as appropriate, the departmental policies and procedures for collection activity, including but not limited to calling strategies and activity, payment relief, settlements, repossession activity, foreclosure, attorney activity.

  4. Reinforce call quality expectations and ensure compliance with departmental and bank policies and procedures.

  5. Employ, train, promote, counsel and terminate teammates as required, as well as make recommendations for salary changes within bank guidelines. Resolve teammate issues or concerns.

  6. Meet established goals for portfolio delinquency, losses and recoveries for assigned portfolios.

  7. Schedule and organize teammates in accordance with departmental needs.

  8. Review and monitor department production and performance results, both in quantity and quality, and address any areas of concern.

  9. Review past due accounts regularly and with particular reference to any serious problems requiring immediate attention. Ensure servicing meets all established regulatory and timeline requirements.

  10. Consult with Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, Loan Services, and other applicable departments or external vendors in an effort to resolve disputes, problem accounts, and minimize risk exposure to the bank.

  11. Manage expenses within annual plan.

  12. Keep informed of changes in collection, repossession laws and regulations, update processes and procedures and communicate to staff as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent education or related training

  2. Six plus years of combined collection and/or leadership experience

  3. Strong organization skills

  4. Strong process management and improvement skills

  5. Ability to train and manage personnel effectively

  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Graduate of a major bank's credit training program

  2. Advanced degree in a business related field
