Job Summary

The General Manager is a Compass Community Living employee responsible for the total operation of a luxury senior community. The General Manager will report to the Coreworks Regional Director of Operations and be the primary liaison. The General Manager has overall accountability for setting standards, financial management, capital projects, ensuring compliance in all community dining and support services operations including but not limited to setting objectives, reinforcing premium standards, monitoring performance, and rewarding team members based on results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads all aspects of department financial data, statistics and monitor expenditures.

  • Coordinates the development of operating and capital budgets

  • Project management skills with experience in redevelopment, construction and large-scale capital improvement projects.

  • Coordinates activities between all departments.

  • Exhibit excellent people and communication (written, verbal, social media, and computer) skills, as well as a level of "conversational sophistication" to interact with community members and staff.

  • Actively communicates with administration, board members and residents.

  • Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and supervises functions and activities of all departments.

  • Provide advice and recommendations to the Board of Directors and residents about construction, maintenance, materials, supplies, equipment, and services.

  • Understands all the key departments, their functions and how they work collectively to achieve larger goals.

  • Work collaboratively with marketing to grow and promote community living.

  • Establishes and implements policies and procedures for departmental operations.

  • Possess the ability to supervise subordinate staff, including, but not limited to, assignment of duties, evaluating service, and taking disciplinary action when necessary.

  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies.

  • Remains proactive in the achievement of community goals and objectives.

  • Demonstrates quality leadership by meeting performance plans.

  • Oversee contracts for approval, seeking competitive bids for large capital projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four-year college degree and equal related experience required.

  • Three to five years of proven executive leadership experience, preferably as a General Manager/Executive Director in a private club or luxury service industry.

  • Must have the ability to analyze and interpret financial and other data

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives

  • Must have the ability to be a master communicator; and communicate with excellent oral and written skills

  • Strong knowledge of luxury food and service trends

  • Ability to apply a participative approach to managing staff, to organize and prioritize tasks, and to develop budgets with a complete understanding of community needs and requirements

  • Excellent leadership, administrative and organizational skills

  • Follow-through (with associates and residents) skills required

Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
