BWXT is currently seeking a Calibration Technician for its Advanced Technologies location in Lynchburg, VA!

BWXT is People Strong, Innovation Driven - be part of BWXT’s innovation hub. BWXT’s Advanced Technologies (AT) group researches, designs, and develops innovative new nuclear reactors, nuclear rocket propulsion systems, and radioisotope production systems for both internal and external customers.

This position will provide quality support for projects including next generation nuclear reactor design; reactor component development and fabrication; and advanced manufacturing technology development.

Job Description / Duties:

• Maintain Measuring & Test Equipment (M&TE) inventory, records and database.

• Monitor M&TE calibration schedules and coordinate vendor calibration services.

• Perform calibration of M&TE as necessary.

• Work with area supervision to coordinate M&TE calibrations.

• Issue gauge recalls when necessary.

• Monitor M&TE usage and ensure gauges are available for use when needed.

• Work with procurement to purchase new and/or replacement gauges.

• Support Quality Engineers with gauging and inspection planning needs.

• Develop calibration procedures and instructions.

• Research new systems and gauges as requested.

Job Qualifications / Requirements:

• Must have a minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. An Associate's Degree is preferred and may substitute for experience.

• Must have at least six (6) years of relevant experience.

• Ability to pass and maintain visual and dimensional qualifications is required.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate; contribute to technical teams; work independently; and accurately document and maintain records is required.

• Prior quality experience with M&TE control is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with gauge calibration, gauge calibration tracking systems, measurement accuracy and uncertainty preferred.

• Must be a U.S. citizen.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.
