JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Konopka laboratory has multiple, NIH-funded clinical trials to test if leading pharmacological candidates can improve healthy aging in humans. The mTOR inhibitor rapamycin can extend the lifespan and quality of life in multiple model systems. However, it remains unknown if rapamycin or rapamycin analogs can improve outcomes associated with aging in humans. This position will work collaboratively with the lead clinical research coordinator, clinical research supervisor, and/or Dr. Konopka to complete clinical trials testing whether pharmacological inhibition of mTOR can safely intervene on the fundamental biology of aging and improve clinically relevant functional outcomes. A clinical research coordinator is needed to manage study visits, data collection, data entry and interpretation. Study visits will include several innovative and gold standard techniques to evaluate glucose metabolism, cardiorespiratory fitness (VO2max), muscle and cardiac contractile performance, and cognitive function. This may include assisting with the collection, processing and storage of blood and muscle samples. This position will be heavily involved in sample and data collection with human subjects but may also assist with recruitment, enrollment and retention. Responsibilities: Coordinates clinical research studies, performing related tasks and activities. Collects information, recruits, screens, selects, determines eligibility, and enrolls study participants and ensures subjects follow the research protocol. 25% Schedules logistics, determines workflows, and secures resources for a defined clinical research trial(s) 25% Recruits, screens, selects, determines eligibility and enrolls trial participants, collects information, and answers questions under supervision of a medically licensed professional.
