JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The MIDUS study (Midlife in the United States) is a multi-disciplinary longitudinal study of aging conducted by the University of Wisconsin Institute on Aging. The Data Management Specialist will assist MIDUS Biomarker project staff in managing electronic data and other materials collected in the current wave of longitudinal data collection as well as extant Biomarker and other data obtained during 3 prior waves of MIDUS using tools including SPSS, Python, and REDCap. Biomarker project data is collected by project staff during clinical visits at two study locations in a variety of digital and analog formats. The Data Engineer II receives, organizes, and quality controls this data as it is delivered by project staff and participates in cleaning it for release once a wave of data collection has concluded. This position also provides technical support to the design team as new waves of data collection are designed and implemented. Responsibilities: Contributes to a research agenda set by a lead researcher by creating automated processes for preparing and analyzing data at scale. Plays a leadership role and may lead a team and/or personnel. 40% Prepares data sets for current and future analysis including cleaning/quality assurance, transformations, restructuring, and integration of multiple data sources and may use technologies that support data at scale 5% Implements data analysis steps in collaboration with data scientists, statisticians, and/or other researchers and may use technologies that support data at scale 20% Organizes both data preparation and analysis steps into reproducible pipelines that can process similar data sets automatically 10% Selects appropriate technologies and optimizes pipelines for performance 5% Develops, constructs, tests, and maintains architectures for large-scale data management and analysis 10% Serves as an institutional subject matter expert and liaison to key internal and external stakeholders regarding automated data management and analysis at scale for research and represents the interests of large-scale data management and analysis for research 10% May supervise the data-to-day activities of staff and...
