JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated professional to transform the results of soybean and small grain research into meaningful information for growers and other agricultural professionals. This role involves: Communication: Delivering insights through speaking engagements at grower and professional meetings, writing Extension publications, contributing to professional journals, and creating Internet content. Mentorship: Training and mentoring PhD and Master\'s graduate students in their thesis research, as well as guiding undergraduate students during their summer internships. Data Management: Converting individual data, documents, and GIS data into online shared resources. Equipment Design: Designing and fabricating field research equipment. Educational Materials: Preparing educational materials, including soybean production fact sheets, Agronomy Advice, and WI Crop Manager articles. Research: Conducting greenhouse studies on various crop and pest questions. Collaboration: Working with Department faculty, county-based Extension staff, industry representatives, funding agency representatives, and other public agency personnel. Expertise: Applying knowledge of pesticides, fertilizers, and other crop production inputs to field research and grower recommendations. Drone Program Management: Serving as the Chief Pilot and manager of the soybean research project drone research program. Technical Proficiency: Demonstrating proficiency in software and cloud-based platforms such as Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, MS SharePoint, SAS, ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online, photogrammetry, Pix4Dfields, John Deere Operations Center, DroneLogBook, and statistical analysis software. Work Conditions: Being prepared for occasional long hours, weekend work, and working in adverse climate conditions. The role also involves heavy lifting as part of field research activities.
