Part Time Position
28 hours per Week
Day Shift
Tentative schedule - every other weekend 4H/day, and 8H/day every Wednesday-Friday.
This is a position specific to our inpatient behavioral health unit .
SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Madison is eagerly looking to hire a Behavioral Health Social Worker (BHSW) for our inpatient behavioral health unit! This position conducts psychosocial assessments of all admitted patients. The BHSW works as part of the multidisciplinary care team to ensure proper and safe care and dispositions for patients and to provide therapeutic care to those interested.

Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit positions:
· Acute hospital or outpatient discharge planning experience preferred.
· Medical trauma experience preferred.
Provides social work assistance to patients and families as related to social determinants of health.

Job Summary:
Conducts interviews and behavioral health assessments for potential admissions including telehealth assessments.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides admissions and intake services to patients and potential patients.
Responds to telephone inquiries from persons seeking mental health care or information about mental health-related services.
Facilitates admission of in-patients and out-patients based on physician orders. Coordinates transportation to another facility and/or referral to a lower level of care as indicated.
Documents calls and related admission information. May staff crisis hotline as needed.
Reviews all paperwork accompanying patients to ensure adherence to hospital and regulatory policies.
Performs insurance verification and prior-authorization based on payor requirements.
Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- Master's degree in Behavioral Health or related field
EXPERIENCE
- No experience required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
Rare climbing.
