Vanguard Manager, Creative Services in Malvern, Pennsylvania
Vanguard has an exciting new opportunity for a Creative Services Manager for our inhouse agency “RED”. RED has established the structure, strategic horsepower, and world-class capabilities to build Vanguard's first-ever in-house creative agency. Teams across Vanguard are leveraging our centralized, consolidated creative operations; our goal is to partner with every division of the enterprise to bring business goals to life with standout marketing creative. We are looking for a leader with expertise that includes creative direction on graphic design, with deep knowledge of full funnel campaigns and design studio leadership. You'll be comfortable switching from conceptual work to production of individual assets. You'll lead and advise Strategic Designers who implement creative concepts and direction, as well as Studio Designers. You'll report to and work closely with a Group Creative Director to lead the team in design solutions, and/or art direction for print materials, presentations, user experiences, production and audiovisual mediums. You'll oversee creative content management and production strategy, in addition to budgetary and compliance considerations. You'll divide and assign workload and resolve highly complex issues escalated by direct reports.
Responsibilities
Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
Organizes and facilitates brainstorming sessions and critiques to drive content, design, and presentation solutions. Collaborates with internal clients to determine creative tools and solutions, ensure appropriate staffing, and provide support and guidance each step of the process. Leads external vendor strategy for creative services.
Sets measurable goals to increase efficiency, performance, and quality of team output. Quantifies and reviews team efficiency by analyzing data and researches root cause of any issues. Audits crew and team work for quality control. Identifies opportunities to revise or dispose of obsolete or inefficient processes and practices.
Provides status updates to the business regarding various creative services projects and processes. Partners with senior leaders to prioritize projects, accommodate workload changes, and resolve highly complex creative services issues.
Develops design standards and helps evolve Vanguard's brand identity by pioneering new creative services and strategies. Complies with Vanguard policies regarding electronic media.
Collaborates with the business and leaders to ensure finalized products satisfy clients' needs and expectations. Gains buy-in from leaders and stakeholders to implement new or non-traditional creative services or design concepts. Oversees the budget and resourcing constraints and communicates proactively to leaders of any concerns.
May identify, collaborate with, and oversee external vendors on implementing higher profile or costly artistic services or design solutions for Vanguard.
Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Deep experience with graphic design, art direction, full funnel campaigns and design studio management.
Minimum of seven years related work experience, with at least two years of leadership in design, advertising, and communications in an agency and/or in-house team.
Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graphic Design or other creative arts degree preferred.
