About the role The Senior Vice President, Environmental Management is responsible for development and administration of environmental policy and procedure.  This includes the oversight of the company's policies, procedures and practices relating to environmental risks, including all regulatory compliance in connection with mandates promulgated by EPA and other federal and state regulatory agencies.  This position is responsible for the accurate, timely and high quality of the company's service delivery of all site level work involving environmental impacted scopes. This position is also responsible for managing the company's overall risk profile relating to environmental issues. These duties span across the Balfour Beatty US Investments portfolio of property management, development, and renovations/construction projects. What you'll be doing Collaborate with internal legal, operations and business development staff to provide technical support and expert guidance on environmental compliance and related issues, various reports, and environmental due diligence in connection with pursuit of new business opportunities.  Provide comprehensive evaluation to diagnose problems related to environmental concerns, and determine causation, and recommend remedial measures.  Facilitate management of reported environmental issues and develop appropriate action plans. Act as point of contact with external organizations and stakeholders as it relates to environmental testing, compliance, reporting, assurance and technical support. Together with the Legal Department, manage and respond to regulatory agency correspondence, investigations and related matters. Assist in producingenvironmental training programs for company-wide implementation and assist to ensure these programs and tactics are being executed and are fit for purpose at all levels and sites across the organization. Assist in developing, publishing, and maintaining company environmental management policies and procedures. Reviewand assist with development of project specific environmental management plans E sure the environmental function supports the company's Ethics and Compliance and risk management programs and operates at the highest levels of integrity. Collaborate with the company's operations assurance team to design adequate assurance testing programs for environmental management policies and procedures; and assist to develop appropriate responses and action plans with the operations team to address findings from assurance reports. Who we're looking for Bachelor's degree in health, safety, science or environmental science/engineering required; advance degree preferred. Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant working experience Experience working in regulatory enforcement or environmental legal sector preferred. Subject matter expertise in lead-based paint, asbestos, mold, radon, indoor air quality, drinking water, groundwater and soil quality standards, solid and hazardous waste management, and stormwater management and permitting. Working knowledge of applicable environmental laws, regulations and work practices for the construction and property management industries.  Experienced with reading and interpreting environmental reports and testing data in connection with standard operations in these fields. Experienced in working with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and relates software systems and programs. Statutes, Laws & Regulations - Working knowledge of applicable standards promulgated by EPA, OSHA and regulatory authorities sanctioned to oversee these industries. Planning/organizing - Ability to organize work, set priorities, work independently and make productive use of time.  Must also be able to instill planning and organizational traits to a subordinate level through management techniques and delegation. Adaptability - Ability to accept changes in the work environment manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events. Integrity - Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Communication and Contact - Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.  Must be able to effectively communicate to subordinate staff with clear directives, institute follow-up communication mechanisms and address/correct issues arising from miscommunication of goals/directives.  Employee must frequently provide a high level of customer service to field management. Relationships with Others:  Ability to work effectively and relates well with others including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.  The employee exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships. Up to 25% travel Possession of a valid state issues driver's license and safe driving record are required Typical Physical Demands: Regularly use hands to manipulate tools, equipment, supplies, and office equipment. Frequently stand, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, and stoop. Sit and stand to do clerical work.
