Electra Aero Electric Aircraft Internships (Summer 2025) in Manassas, Virginia

The Electra.aero Internship Experience

Electra.aero is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated high school and college students or recent graduates in various engineering disciplines (aerospace, mechanical, structural, manufacturing, electrical, software, etc.) to help in the development of electric vehicles for summer internships in 2025.

Our internship experience is unlike any other! Interns gain real-world experience, working on actual projects all while applying theories and collegiate practices to help solve interesting and highly technical problems.  Interns can study in a variety of areas including aerospace engineering, flight physics, flight control simulation, modeling, manufacturing, structural design and repairs, electrical engineering, and more!

To maximize the experience for interns, these positions are based in Northern Virginia and will require relocation to the area for the duration of the internship.

Only applicants currently enrolled in and/or recent graduates of Undergraduate, Graduate, or Doctorate programs in applicable engineering disciplines will be considered for internships.

Required Education and Experience

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from Undergraduate, Graduate, or Doctorate programs in applicable engineering disciplines (or related STEM discipline) and

  • 0+ years of experience in relevant discipline areas (or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience).

    Required Skills

  • A strong work ethic and ability to proactively support engineering areas within a fixed-wing prototyping environment

  • Emerging organization and communication skills.

    Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree progression is preferred

  • Experience working on prototype development programs.

  • Experience with flight operations of electric aircraft.

  • Experience with flight test data reduction and aerodynamic and propulsion system analysis.

  • Experience with MATLAB / Simulink.

  • US Person (Citizen or Green Card) Preferred.

    Location: HQ in Manassas, VA. To encourage close collaboration on a complex program, this position requires daily onsite office hours.

Salary: Electra’s salary range for this position is: $39,000 - 87,000

Our salary ranges reflect the minimum and maximum range for the Company level overall across all locations & projects and does not necessarily reflect the budgeted amount for this position. 

Please note - Individual pay, especially for internships, is based on additional factors, including project budgets, job-related skills, experience, relevant education and/or training, role, level, location, and project, AND what year you are in school.

Working Conditions

Work is typically performed in a warehouse/aviation and office environment, which requires proper safety precautions. Work may require some physical effort in handling light materials, boxes, power tools, prototypes, and different materials or equipment. Due to the nature of our business and projects, some fieldwork may be required, working in both indoor and outdoor conditions. You may need to lift up to 50 lbs.
