Robert Half Facilities Assistant in Manassas, Virginia

Description

As a facility assistant you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of the building or facility. This includes monitoring the cleaning, security, and maintenance services to ensure a safe, clean and healthy environment for all occupants of the facility. Duties may include coordinating repairs, performing routine checks, and ensuring that health and safety regulations are adhered to. The facility assistant may also be involved in setting up rooms for meetings or events, liaising with suppliers and contractors, and other administrative tasks. This role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

The Facility Assistant must have superior organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to multitask. This role generally requires good communication and problem-solving skills, given the coordinate and decision-making aspects of the work. Prior experience in facilities management or a related field can be beneficial.

Requirements

Educational Requirements: A high school diploma or GED is typically required.

Experience: Previous experience in building maintenance, caretaking, or related field is often required. This can also include specific skills such as plumbing, electrical work, or HVAC operation.

Physical condition: The role requires prior shipping/ receiving experience – ability to lift up to 30 pounds, pushing, or pulling heavy items.

Technical skills: Knowledge of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and safety systems may be required. Proficiency in using various maintenance tools and equipment is also necessary.

Problem-solving skills: The ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues around the facility is crucial.

Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills to interact with employees, provide reports, and understand work orders.

Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, maintain inventory of supplies, and schedule maintenance activities.

Time Management: Must have the ability to schedule and complete work within allotted time frames.

Attention to detail: Facility assistants must notice and address small issues before they become major problems.

Knowledge of Safety Regulations: Understanding of local, state, and federal building and safety codes may be required.

Computer skills: Basic skills may be required for tasks like email communication, report writing, and using maintenance tracking software.
