About This Role:

The Department of Agricultural Economics at Kansas State University seeks to fill a 12-month postdoctoral, non-tenure track appointment in Agricultural Economics. The Department has a reputation for excellence in all three functions of the University\'s land grant mission (teaching, research, and extension). The candidate will investigate research problems and conduct high-end impactful research in the areas of community resilience, community development, social equity and/or applied behavioral analysis in the context of climate change, natural disasters and hazards, and extreme weather in Kansas. The candidate will engage in helping to develop and administer surveys, serious games and behavioral experiments; assist with community engagement and extension activities; and mentor undergraduate and graduate research assistants. The candidate will assist faculty and students involved in a large NSF funded project (Adaptive and Resilient Infrastructures driven by Social Equity (ARISE). The candidate will be under the supervision of Dr. Jason Bergtold.

What You\'ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completed or nearing completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent in applied economics, agricultural economics, applied behavioral psychology, geography, sociology, rural sociology, urban planning or closely related field.
  • Strong statistical, econometric and/or geospatial analysis skills.
  • Strong interest or experience community engaged research, extension.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: statistical and econometric software packages, database management, GIS, and computer programming.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Commitment to excellence in research and outreach, excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Commitment to expanding and fostering diversity.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with community engaged research, extension and/or community engagement activities.

Research publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Experience with survey development and administration, applied behavioral psychology or behavioral economics experimental methods,
