\ \ Veterinary Nurse I, II, or III-Oncology\ \ Department: 3670080070 Veterinary Health Center\ Job no: 517352\ Employment type: Staff Full Time (USS)\ Location: Manhattan, Kansas\ Worksite: On-site requirement\ Categories: Veterinary Medicine\ Pay Grade: 07A\ \ \ About This Role:\ The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Veterinary Nurse I, II, or III to join our dedicated Oncology Service to provide exemplary patient care. While there are many responsibilities of this position, the primary responsibility is to work collaboratively with veterinary students, interns, residents, and faculty clinicians to provide medical and radiation oncology treatments for patients. Communication and leadership skills are utilized daily to facilitate treatment schedules, coordinate student orientations, and assist in communication with clients. Veterinary Nurses have the opportunity to advance their skillsets through continuing education, various learning experiences, and subspecialty certifications recognized by NAVTA. The VHC also has an established career ladder for veterinary nurses to provide opportunities for professional advancements. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.\ \ What You\'ll Need to Succeed:\ Minimum Qualifications:

  • For Veterinary Nurse I:
    • Completion of a two-year college program in veterinary and animal technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association.
  • For Veterinary Nurse II:
    • Completion of a two-year college program in veterinary and animal technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association and two years of relevant experience.
  • For Veterinary Nurse III:
    • Completion of a two-year college program in veterinary or animal technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and five years of relevant experience as a veterinary technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) after passing the Veterinary T chnician National Exam.

\ Preferred Qualifications:

For All Veterinary Nurses:

  • Knowledge of basic veterinary medical concepts, animal behavior and animal husbandry.
  • Skilled in interpersonal and written communication.
  • Skilled in basic computer skills.
  • Be willing to master new techniques.
  • Ability to handle, restrain, and provide medical treatments to domestic animals.
  • Ability to adhere to appropriate safety procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in high intensity environment.
  • Ability to perform general diagnostic procedures.
  • Skilled in time management and prioritizing daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to work with and provide preventative maintenance for ordinary veterinary medical hospital equipment.

For Veterinary Nurse II:

  • Advanced knowledge of nursing care and assigned service requirements and policies.

For Veterinary Nurse III:

Ability to be a self-starter and be proactive in assisting others.
