Quality Engineer

Location: Maplewood, MN (Must be local to site but position is primarily remote)

Duration : 12 month, potential for extension

Pay Rate: 27-32

Job Description

As a Quality Engineer you will oversee the production part approval process (PPAP) for Aerospace products and are responsible for ensuring customer and company quality requirements are met. This will include preparation and review of PPAP documentation, responding to customer requirements for any customer mandated quality initiatives related to PPAP process, and interacting with Lab, Engineering, Production and customers as needed.

  • Maintains PPAP systems, completing all paperwork as required for tracking and timely submittal, as well as document control.

  • Participates in quality planning/manufacturing/engineering PPAP process reviews.

  • Communicates professionally with peers and customers regarding PPAP related issues.

  • Coordinates comprehensive first article inspections of newly manufactured components or assemblies to verify compliance with design specifications, customer requirements, and applicable standard

  • Able to interface with customer on APQP, process control plans, PFMEAs, MSA and SPC.

  • Coordinates course of action for alleviating and resolving concerns (8D and 5Ys), as needed.

  • Analyses and verifies dimensional capability of products and processes (

  • Understands Gage R&Rs and Capability Studies

  • Participate as an internal auditor, when necessary, in internal audit programs (according to EN 9100 and Nadcap standards)

  • Coordinate PPAPs with customers and internally

Job Requirements:

  • Able to demonstrate key requirements of the PPAP process

  • Mastery of quality and continuous improvement tools or equivalent: R&R, APQP /, 8D, Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA studies, etc.

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a science, engineering (mechanical engineer, chemical engineer, industrial engineer, statistics, etc.) or technical discipline

  • Minimum of three (3) year of combined experience working in a product, quality, engineering, or six sigma
